This morning, I was happy to take full advantage of a nice leisurely breakfast eaten in front my laptop in a real bowl with real utensils. I took the morning off from the gym because I will be team teaching the new Bodypump release again tonight! I can’t wait
Breakfast this morning was a hot bowl of oats with lots of goodies mixed in.
- 1/3 cup oats
- 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 egg white
- a dash of cinnamon
- a splash of butter and nut extract
- a big glop of almond butter (plus a couple of finger licks on the side 😉 )
- half of a banana
It was so yummy and just what I was craving.
Yesterday morning, I actually took a break from the gym as well! After work yesterday, I headed to the gym to participate as a group leader for the NIFS Mini Marathon Training Program first meeting and orientation.
Each of the group leaders received these fancy “leader” shirts as well as hats and gloves.
We didn’t do any running last night, it was mostly just an information session about the program, how to dress safely when running in cold weather, and there were booths set up by the various sponsors of the training program.
Although I have never run the Indy Mini Marathon, I know that it is a big deal! It is the largest half marathon in the United States and has sold out with 35,000 participants for the past 11 years…crazy! This will be my fourth half marathon that I am training for, and I am really excited to do it with a large group of people. Honestly, I am a bit intimidated to be calling myself a “group leader,” but after speaking with several of the other group leaders last night, we are all pretty much in the same boat.
Everyone I know that has completed the Mini Marathon has said that the race is so much fun because there are so many people. As of right now, I am not sure if I will be trying to achieve a specific time or just go with the flow and enjoy myself. Either way, I know that this will be a memorable experience.
We will complete a 14 week half marathon training plan, and our first “long” run is next Wednesday for 3 miles. Now, I just have to put the running route together!
