This weekend, I completed another milestone in my fitness journey. I attended (and passed!) the initial certification training for Les Mills CXWORX.
CXWORX is the 30 minute personal trainer inspired, quick, efficient, mentally and physically challenging core workout designed to make the entire body stronger.
It’s crazy for me to think that my first Les Mills training was a year and a half ago, but having one Les Mills certification under my belt really helped me out with this training. Not only did I have a general idea of what I would be expected to know, but now I am a LOT more comfortable with the idea of learning the “choreography” of the workout.
That being said, leading up to the training I felt as if I did nothing but listen to my two assigned tracks and practice wherever I could find the space!
There were only five of us in this training, which was COMPLETELY different than my Bodypump training which had over 20 people working to pass the initial module with two people training to be trainers in addition to the actual trainer…it was a big group so it felt really great to have more individualized attention this time around.
Overall, the weekend was fun and a great way to bond with other instructors and refresh all of the Les Mills traditions that make it so special to me. The weekend was challenging, no doubt, and not only physically challenging but mentally challenging. One of the themes that we carried through the weekend was the fact that CXWORX is SUCH a mental workout.
It’s easy to pretend not to crank up the resistance while indoor cycling if you aren’t feeling it that day, and you can easily lift a lower weight than usual if you aren’t feeling as strong in Bodypump…but there is no way to fake many of the body weight exercises that compose CXWORX. It is unbelievable how strong the mind is, and we really focused on the idea of setting your mind to something and then doing it.
We all left the weekend feeling proud, strong, and ready to take the next steps to becoming officially certified CX instructors.
Maria, our amazing trainer gave us all little thought bubbles and told us to write a goal in the thought bubble–something to set our minds on…many of us wrote 10 minute hover (myself included!). I know it sounds crazy, but that is the kind of determination, strength and dedication I was surrounded with this weekend. It was nothing short of amazing.
Questions of the Day:
- Have you tried CXWORX? What did you think?
- What is something that is very challenging that you were able to accomplish because you set your mind to it?
