About the Blog
Treble in the Kitchen came to life in June 2011 as a way for me to connect with others who have a passion for fitness, food, and mostly healthy living. I wanted to document and share recipes, exercise tips, and things that I find interesting with friends, family members, other bloggers, and blog readers.
Creating new workouts is something fun for me, and experimenting in the kitchen is a daily occurrence in my life. This blog is updated daily with my latest kitchen creation, sweaty workout, or quick and simple meal.
In addition to sharing recipes and workouts, this blog follows my crazy life with my husband, Brian, and the rest of my family.

About the Blogger – Tara
My name is Tara Deal Rochford, and I am a 25 year-old food and fitness lover living in Indianapolis, IN. Upon obtaining my music degree from Butler University, I followed one of my many passions and decided to work on board a cruise line as the Fitness Director. This allowed me to realize my love for working directly with people, and being in the health and fitness industry.
I am currently working as the Membership Sales Manager at the National Institute for Fitness and Sport where I am able to teach group fitness classes, write blog posts, and introduce new members of the fitness center to a healthy lifestyle.
A typical week for me includes 5-6 days of exercise including strength and cardio training with at least one day of rest. You can check out my daily workout log to see a detailed list of what I do each week.
I love group fitness classes, especially Bodypump and other Les Mills branded classes. The group atmosphere really gets me fired up and helps me push myself as well as my participants.
I have also completed a few half marathons. Running used to be something that I dreaded doing in gym class, but after completing a few 5ks and finding that 3 miles was “comfortable” for me I realized that I wanted to run more. I started with a the 6 mile Firecracker 6 race in Indianapolis, and this race has now become a tradition for Brian and I to complete together every year! I then trained to complete the Indianapolis Women’s Half Marathon a few months later and the rest is history. When I cross the finish line after EVERY race, I get overwhelmed with emotion and excitement. Nothing beats that feeling for me.
I have always loved helping out in the kitchen, and it began with baking cookies!
We always made homemade chocolate chip cookies for my Grandpa, and we always made homemade sugar cookies for Christmas. It is a passion of mine to experiment in the kitchen and share my goodies with others.
There have been some recipes experiments I will NEVER try again, and there are some that I love, continue to use, and tweak to make my own! I really enjoy taking a decadent recipe and “healthifying” it! Some of my favorite things to make are muffins, cookies, granola, salads, fish, well I could go on forever! I can’t wait to share all of my trials and errors with you.
I love eating healthy foods like veggies, fruits, fish, nuts, oatmeal, and nutbutters. Believe it or not, I also have a sweet tooth! I don’t always give in to my sweet tooth because I truly believe in balance and moderation, but when I have a hankering for something sweet I can’t wait to enjoy it!
Why the name “Treble in the Kitchen?”
You are probably wondering why I chose the name “Treble in the Kitchen.” My grandma loves to craft, sew and make homemade things. She made me an apron with little treble clefs and the phrase “Treble in the Kitchen” because of my love for music and my love for cooking and being in the kitchen. I thought that the apron fit my personality to a T, so I chose to use it as my blog name. How perfect!
